Jean-Pierre Bertrand has all qualities necessary to the difficult exercise of the boogie woogie piano.
And especially, in this album, it knew to vary the pleasures boogistic to the extreme: the large tubes of the style (Honky Tonk Train Blues) are surrounded by songs transformed into boogie(Roses of Picardy; The Birth of the Blues), with the example of Albert Ammons, large precursory of this kind of crossover. Compositions of Jean-Pierre (including one excellent waltz boogie!) are integrated well in this unit and the solos alternate with the trios where its two sidemen have a perfect beat and sound.
